I just took off two weeks to be with my two grandchildren, daughter and son-in-law while we waited for the arrival of our third grandchild. I haven't taken off two weeks since I had my last child. Monday was especially hard to get my head back in the game. I felt guilty for missing several meetings that were important for future trainings but have a great team that can fill me in.

PS I live in Bowling Green KY. Mammoth Cave is fun. In Nashville, go to "Game Terminal" for all kinds of old arcade games, pinball, etc. I have a feeling you and your family will love it!

Thank you, Drew! I feel this a lot as an entrepreneur but am working on self-improvement (no day off from this job!). I needed this message today.

I'm trying to wrap my head around "retirement" where work, money, and relaxation take on entirely different meanings!

Hi Drew - I kinda noticed that there was no new letter, but didn't think too hard about it. Remember - people are not thinking about you as much as you do. I get the no work= no money. After working non stop for two years (2021 and 2022) my business has been very slow for the last two years. I have had a lot of time on my hands. It has been uncomfortable, but good. I love what I do, but have used the time to think about what else I love. Enjoy your holiday! We will still love you when you get back.

I feel guilty about not working and after that, I feel guilty about having worked when I was with my loved ones 🙃

I have spent most of my life and career as people pleaser and have felt tremendously guilty about everything I do or don't do. Taking time for myself has always been viewed as selfish. Over the past few years, I have reframed everything I know about being an independent adult. I now know that taking care of yourself (whether it be my mental, physical, or emotional health) is not selfish it is healthy and unequivocally necessary. Since these changes, my life has been significantly more balanced and rewarding. If you care for yourself, you can care for others better as well. As the saying goes, you can't pour from an empty cup. So true.

I feel guilty about a lot of things - but "not working" isn't one of them. After working in places that took advantage of people by installing fear of taking vacation, I make sure I take all my days. Having a personal business too does incite guilt because no work, no money, so I get that. But again, no rest, relaxation or activities that are not associated with $$$ reduces your ability to to focus. But, reality may require some attention - I try to schedule an hour here or there to check in in - one thing about being human, is that setting ultimatums sets you up for failure - and guilt! How much guilt is generated by working on vacation! I will admit, that sometimes when I am doing a Laughter Wellness event, I have so much fun, I almost feel guilty that they are paying me. Almost.
